I know DP has big composers like Danny Elfman vouching for it, and Cubase has big composers like Hans Zimmer vouching for it. I know based on some other reviews that Cubase has a better stock VST library in comparison to DP. I'm looking for a DAW with great notation to midi features, and even though you can somewhat attain this through a Max4Live device on Ableton, it still kinda stucks, which is primarily why I am interested in Digital Performer and Cubase, besides all the other things that gear them both towards media scoring. It's a big learning curve I'm willing to tackle, as I do have an educational background on analog routing as well, but I'm part of the generation that grew up primarily creating music digitally, and it seems pretty clunky even after learning it. I've spent a whole day now going through about the first 150 pages of the Digital Performer manual to try and get a grasp on the workflow, and following along with a cracked version of the software for educational purposes, but it just seems like its UI is based really heavily on mimicking analog routing, rather than focusing on actual ease of use. I'm looking into Digital Performer and Cubase as based on my research those are the top two DAWS most catered to scoring projects. I love my workflow on Ableton for Pop composition, but it just doesn't seem like the right fit for scoring work. ![]() I've managed to fix the codecs and stuff, so I am able to score videos now, but it just feels like a lifeless passable attempt at using Ableton for this type of work. I've been an Ableton user for about 6-8 years now, and with how my work has been turning out, I've been starting to feel pretty limited by the lack of features Ableton has with regard to film/video scoring. Hey guys, I'm currently an Ableton Live 11 Suite user on Windows 10.
